Clarion Collies

History . . . . .

The breeding of fine collies has been the goal of CLARION since its establishment in 1965. Based on a foundation of quality individuals and strongly influenced by the beauty and elegance of the Tokalon and Poplar dogs and later by the stunning Brandwyne collies, we strive for the ultimate in elegance, balance and expression.
Ch. Kemricks Silver Satin set the initial type for CLARION as our foundation matron.
She finished her championship with three 5 point specialty wins, and went on to produce three outstanding champions and a multiple champion producing daughter and is still prominent in our pedigrees today.

The purchase of Silver Satin's sire, CH. Valley View´s Whirlaway, and the incorporation of his blood into our breeding program helped set the type that CLARION became noted for. Whirlaway went on to become one of the breed's leading sires.

CH. CLARION'S NIGHTRIDER, from Silver Satin's first litter went on to become one of the most influential sires in breed history. Sired by the great Ch. Impromptu Ricochet and from a litter of 3 champions Nightrider quickly proved prepotent for his exquisite expression and elegant type. Our current winners all descend from this dominant sire.

CLARION'S LIGHT UP THE SKY, a genetic gold mine by virtue of his stellar linebred pedigree surpassed even our expectations of him as a producer and went on to become the breed's top producing blue merle sire-a record he held for many years. Although Platinum Minx only gave us one litter, her daughter CLARION BLACK DAHLIA when bred to the champion producing double dilution merle son of Light Up the Sky, CLARION TOUCHSTONE, produced
CH. CLARION TOUCHED BY POETRY, a bitch of exquisite balance and breathtaking expression.

When bred to CH. The Meadow's Notorious, this bitch produced our current winner and top producer. Am & Can CH. CLARION CARELESS WHISPERS, an Award of Merit winner at the 1996 National . Whisper finished her championship with 4 specialty majors and was WB at the Canadian National.

The repeat breeding of Whisper to World Class produced the lovely CH.CLARION PAINT A RUMOR and CH. CLARION RUE ROYALE . PAINT A RUMOR, when bred to Ch. Gambit´s A Hurricane Brew´n produced the stunning CLARION WHEN STARS COLLIDE, RWB at CCA 2001.

CLARION THE COLOR OF LIGHT, WD for a 5pt major at 7mos, he won the 9-12 AOC class at CCA and was considered for WD and finished as a yearling with a second specialty win..

From COLOR MY WORLD bred to a bitch who also descends from Along Came Jones came the outstanding producer and classic beauty type CLARION WORLD CLASS, whos stellar pedigree includes so many of the great ones. Shane has consistently stamped his get with his unmistakable presence, classic detail of head, and beautiful sweet expression.

In one of his earliest litters he sired the high flying white bitch,
CH. CLARION MARMALADE SKIES, who was RB at the Collie Club of America in 1995 from the Open White class and impressed the collie world with her major win at one of the countrys largest specialties as an 8 month old puppy, and then returned to the ring as an adult to win her other specialty major and finish her championship.
Marlas litter by Ch. The Meadows Classique White gave us two beautiful white champion daughters finished in 2002, CH. CLARION BUTTERMILK SKIES, who finished with a thrilling 5pt major in California and Ch. Roblyns PoppinFresh.

From CH. CLARION INCOGNITO bred to our beautiful tri headed white CH. CLARION FROST ON THE MEADOWS we have our most exciting champion, one of ten finished in 2002, with CH. CLARION SMOKE AND MIRRORS. This striking youngster came out at just 6 months to win his first of four majors and finished his title at just 10 months.

CLARION ALENCLAUD ALLIANCE, the litter brother to INCOGNITO, returned from Argentina to Clarion where he was used very successfully on our blue merle and sable merle bitches. He is the sire of several champions including the gorgeous CH. CLARION PAINT A MEMORY and her littermates, near Ch. CLARION BLUE BAYOU and CLARION PAINT IT BLACK.

CLARION STAR STRUCK, out of CLARION WHEN STARS COLLIDE (RWB at CCA) and the puppy flyer CH. CLARION FORCE OF NATURE, finished at 9 months with 4 majors and a group placement, out of the champion producing MARMALADE SKIES daughter CLARION LET THERE BE LIGHT.
